Upside Down Banana Cake

Upside Down Banana Cake is just like a Pineapple Upside Down Cake except I used bananas for the fruit. The caramelized bananas combined with the homemade goodness of a basic vanilla cake is a delicious pairing. It tastes so good! The flavor reminds me of Bananas Foster, another favorite dessert classic.

Caramelized bananas are one of my favorite things. I especially love to top vanilla ice cream with some ooey gooey caramelized bananas. Ooooh it tastes so good and is so easy to do. I first came across a recipe for caramelized bananas when playing a foodie board game with some friends, and I was hooked! On the game and the bananas! The game is called CONVIVIUM. I purchased this game years ago directly from the creators. It seems like it is a little more difficult to find for sale these days. It is a lot of fun for folks who like to eat and spend time in the kitchen. The game consists of several rounds. Each round represents a course. At the end of each round the participants are assigned kitchen jobs such as appetizer chef, bartender, entree chef, bus boy, etc... By the end of the game you've eaten a delicious meal and had a fun night with friends. I definitely recommend it if you like to play board games, eat, and tinker in the kitchen too!
I am a regular contributor at RealHousemoms.com, and that is where I am sharing the recipe and how-to for this beautiful Upside Down Banana Cake. I hope you enjoy this cake as much as we do!
